Community Involvement

Top

Taurus Cape Kelp is actively involved in the community and gives financial assistance to various instances.

Since 2015 Taurus contributes towards the Grootbos Football Foundation, specifically their athletics programme for underprivileged children. We have been involved with Flower Valley Conservation Trust’s ECD program with two creches in the local township of Masakhane, namely Takalani and Good Hope ECD centers.

Taurus also provide financial assistance to Gansbaai Academia High School (since 2012), Laerskool Gansbaai and Okkie Smuts Primary School in Stanford.

The Taurus Cape Kelp Empowerment Trust

Our company has formed a trust, The Taurus Cape Kelp Empowerment Trust, to reward the black workers who have been with Taurus Chemicals Cape Kelp (Pty) Ltd for two years and longer thus proving themselves to be loyal and dedicated to the company.  33.8% of our company now belongs to our black workers. This was the final step in the long process that started 10 years ago to get the workers involved in the ownership of the company. It was also formed to retain, recruit and motivate the employees of the company to achieve superior performance and to remain loyal to the company and its business which will, ultimately, benefit the growth of the company.
